i’ve created the outpost in an attempt to motivate/discipline myself to draw after work, when i’m often too sleepy, tired & lazy.

skintone + lighting
i painted the first torso to create a palette which i can use repeatedly to render skin, to speed up my process. the last three are tests to see if i can use the same base in different lighting conditions by playing with adjustment layers.

this one’s 3 years old. my idea back then was to draw a secret entrance to a den of thieves hidden in an alley, with the gatekeeper removing her robes to face some would-be intruders. i imagine she posed as a homeless person until someone came along to cause trouble.
